The Most Fun I’ve Ever Had With My Pants On
On Location in the Mojave Desert
Drew: “Pretty much everything except poop on him” (rehearsal, scene 2).
Some of my favorite dialogue was cut from the movie, which was a rough lesson. Sometimes certain jokes will work in a conversation - or maybe in a stand up act or something - but they just don't work in a movie. There's a lot of talking in this film - which can be fun and definitely provides some very intimate insight into our characters, but one of the biggest lessons I learned from making this film is I wanna try more *doing* in my next project. Of course, this movie was a very fast spurting of emotions - a sort of exorcism of grief - so it's appropriate that the text of the film is blurted out so sincerely.
Charles: A lot of the driving scenes were shot along a strech of highway in the Mojave desert. The large sign was practically the only discernible landmark. The Jeep Grand Wagonneer that served as the picture car was the bane of the production's existence, and was constantly breaking down. Still, Drew affectionately called it "the Waggie".
Another thing about shooting a movie out of cars and motel rooms: there always seemed to be bagels and cream cheese, but they were never in the same place at the same time.
